LAKIN MILLING
COMPANY
In 1960, Chuck Lakin, president of Lakin, pioneered a new and soon to be
successful product, pelleted complete horse feeds. The idea of pelleted hay for horses was
introduced to the South by Lakin in 1960. The pellet concept was difficult to sell to a
skeptical horse industry, but once it was accepted, their sales grew by an average of 1000
tons a year for over 20 years.
Today, Lakin is still successful due to its
ability to satisfy the horsemen's needs by supplying quality feed. Lakin's line of feeds
is available at more than 100 feed stores in Arizona, New Mexico, Texas and southern
California.
